Court closure

In observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day statewide holidays, the San Diego Superior Court will close all courtrooms and business offices on Thursday, December 25, 2025, and Thursday, January 1, 2026.

From December 22, 2025, through January 2, 2026, the court will operate with significantly reduced staffing levels due to the voluntary work furlough program offered to court employees, which was introduced as a budget-saving measure. Restraining order and urgent matters with statutory deadlines will be scheduled normally, but other judicial calendars will be reduced. Business offices are expected to have longer-than-usual wait times, and other court services may be limited.

Children’s Waiting Rooms at the North County, South County, East County and Juvenile Courthouses will be closed during this timeframe. The Children’s Waiting Room at the Central Courthouse is anticipated to be open with its usual 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 5 p.m. hours of operation, though this is subject to change.

The public is urged to visit the Court’s website at sdcourt.ca.gov to handle traffic tickets or obtain court information.
