- If you wish to appeal a probate, family, felony, or unlimited civil matter, the 4th District Court of Appeal will review the decision made by the trial court and determine if a legal error was made in giving its decision. Note: Although the 4th District Court of Appeal will review your appeal, you must file your Notice of Appeal in the Superior Court Appeals office located in downtown San Diego if your matter was heard in the Central, East or South Divisions:
